Located at the easternmost point of the Australian mainland, the Cape Byron Lighthouse is a very popular location among tourists wishing to catch the first rays of light. It is also the country's most powerful lighthouse.
While the crowds took their usual place at sunset overlooking the Twelve Apostles, I captured this 'lone apostle' a little farther down the beach. The shape of the wave and the surrounding textures make it one of my favorite images.
When I found these rock formations lined up along a small cove in Far North Queensland I felt it would be the perfect place to return during twilight. While many chase sunrise and sunset, I am more fascinated by the light on the edge of darkness.
